PSC : Public Service Commission

PPSC is the acronym as the Public Service Commission. This is the central authority that manages exams. examsthat will be conducted for various categories of jobs. Public Service Commission was set to be established under Article 315-323 315 to 323 of the constitution of India.

For the Union the commission is known as Union Public Service Commission which conducts exams for candidates to Indian jobs at the nation level , as well as higher Central services. For example, IAS is an exam that IAS examis conducted by UPSC each year. The exam is an entry-point to Group A and B services.

At the state scale, the commission is called"the" State Public Service Commission that is accountable to a state, and administers exams for the selection of officials to state services as well as to provide suggestions and advice for the governor in discipline matters. Its members are nominated through the governor.

Its composition for both the State Public Service Commission and the Union Public Service Commission is the same. However, the jurisdiction of UPSC is significantly more extensive than that of the State PSC. The UPSC exercises its jurisdiction throughout the country, whereas, the SPCS's jurisdiction can be exercised within the state.

The PCS exams in different states are identified by various names, such as Karnataka Administrative Services (KAS) which is administered by Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), Kerala Administrative Services (KAS) which is administered by Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) and Provincial Civil Services (PCS) that are managed through Uttar Pradesh Service Commission (UPPSC) and much more. psc ka full form

The PSC's functions are mentioned as part of Article 107 in the Indian constitution. The constitution permits for the PSC to recruit and remove public officials. The responsibilities of PSC are divided into two groups: (a) Administrative and (b) Advisory.

The Administrative functions are focused on recruiting the entire Civil Services and posts that are part of either the Union Government or the State Government. The process involves written exams and interview. (psc ki full form)

The advisory function includes providing guidance to the Government on all matters that concern the Government, including;

  • The recruitment process and principles that are required to be adhered to during appointments to civil service and when transferring officers of one department into another
  • In connection with disciplinary concerns that may affect Govt. employees
  • In connection with temporary appointments as well as the extension of service and related to the possibility of reemployment for retired employees
  • to provide advice on subjects that are assigned to the President of India
